The Kazan Summit is the premier international economic summit of the Russian Federation and member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Alberto Brugnoni moderated the Round Table on “The Role of Zakat, Wakf and Islamic Finance in Effective Charity work”.

High-level government and business leaders, leading philanthropists, donors, social investors and experts from across the world gathered at the Global Donors Forum, the 5th annual meeting of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists. Alberto Brugnoni convened the initiative named “Silver Lining Connecting Awqaf, Zakat, Islamic Finance”.

The event convened under the theme “Room to Grow: New Directions in the Next Growth Phase for Islamic Banking in the Middle East” aimed to chart the future of the regional Islamic banking, finance and investments industry.

The theme of the 7th annual edition “Improving Competitive Performance: Shifting to Sound Underwriting Profitabilty” highlighted that competing for commercial business requires further capacity, underwriting expertise and better broker relationships.

This one-off event aimed to promote synergies between the Government’s poverty alleviation policies and the existing microfinance industry and help enhance access to financial services in Iraq to a population who currently have little or no access to microfinance.

This one-day event was jointly organized by Islamic Relief-Italia and ASSAIF and saw the attendance of key players of both Islamic finance and ethical finance. It was meant to introduce Islamic finance as a key component of the Italian third-sector.

This traditional annual event gathered more than 100 Islamic investment and retail bankers, corporate borrowers, takaful and retakaful providers, asset managers and institutional investors, and representatives from the legal profession. Some of the world’s most respected Shariah scholars discussed the latest Fatwas issued.

Y ont participé un large nombre d’intervenants dont des professeurs, des savants, des experts dans le secteur financier en général, et le secteur de la finance islamique en particulier.

The Forum met to identify scalable business models and explore the possible frameworks, attract commercial funding and diversify product development. It was preceded by a workshop.
